Wedding Venues in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Lots of the old, iconic buildings in and around Nottingham have now been restored into prestige wedding venues. If you’re looking for something a little different on your special day, you’ll have plenty of places to choose from — across Nottingham, and out towards Newark, Sherwood Forest, and the Peak District.

Some of my favourites include The Pheasantry Brewery, a lovely little farm-turned-microbrewery, where the bright copper tanks and lush green pagoda always help your wedding photos to pop; the tipis, fire pits, street food and festival vibes at Inkersall Grange Farm; and the Grade II-listed Pumping House, a handsome Victorian-era factory nestled in three acres of ancient woodland. A lot of my couples want that cool rural-industrial look, and these sorts of funky, easy-going venues deliver every time — whether it’s a stunningly converted barn, scavenger hunts and cinema rooms for the kids, on-site boutique bridal suites, the chance for the happy couple to go clambering up a mountain of beer kegs, or even the opportunity to say ‘I do’ at the foot of a giant, red-brick chimney!

These kinds of Nottingham wedding venues are rustic, but luxurious too — the perfect blend of low-key fun, character, and quality. If you want to enjoy your special day in the great outdoors, but you don’t fancy going the whole hog with a big country-house wedding, there are tonnes of unique and exciting venues spread across Nottingham, accommodating everything from cute little wedding parties to your own private festival!

I’m a ‘Pride and Prejudice’ nut, so nothing makes me happier than being out in nature, snapping away in the company of bright blue skies, rolling green hills, and passing peacocks.

Nottingham is a small city, which means you won’t have to go far in any direction to find beautiful, peaceful countryside, and some truly stunning venues — everything from sprawling estates and mansions, to prestige hotels.

If you’re after fountains and manicured lawns, you’ll be spoiled for choice; venues like Colwick Hall, Norwood Park and Swancar Farm are all in (or very near to) Nottingham, offering that idyllic sense of opulence and grandeur. Are you picturing ballrooms, chandeliers, champagne lounges, gardens and lakeside lawns, bandstands, fields of wheat and wildflowers, and some genuinely incredible reception spaces? If so, these grand old venues will do full justice to your vision — and your wedding photos will look sensational.

Perhaps you’re looking for something a little more intimate, but with that same rustic, country estate feel? In and around Nottingham, you’ll find loads of cosy, manor house-style venues. One of my personal favourites is The Old Vicarage, in the picturesque market town of Southwell: it’s an award-winning, family-run boutique hotel, just perfect for smaller wedding parties. The Old Vicarage is a picture-book venue, full of photo-friendly sun-spots in the summer, roaring fires in the winter, pinks and pastels, plush accommodation, and a lovely in-house team.

Some of my couples prefer to keep it local, tying the knot at a registry office before heading out into Nottingham and the pick of the city’s reception venues. The offices at Arnot Hill and West Bridgford are both located in beautiful parks, giving you lots of opportunities for those leafy-green group and couples shots, whilst the registry office in the famous Council House opens out onto Nottingham’s Old Market Square, where you can embrace the city centre energy and often walk to your reception venue. You’ve also got iconic landmarks like Nottingham Castle and its lovely cobbled streets within easy reach — again, brilliant for those truly memorable photos of your special day.

As you’d expect from such a busy, fun-packed city, Nottingham really shines when it comes to your wedding reception options in the evening. With so much to offer, there’s loads to choose from — whether that’s luxury, Michelin-starred restaurants like World Service, Hart’s, and Cleaver & Wake, or stylish bars in and around the Lace Market (places like Cosy Club, The Nottingham Contemporary), or impressive waterfront venues like the Canal House.

If you want your wedding day to have that cool, urban vibe, Nottingham always delivers. The city’s choc-full of venues for both your ceremony and reception, there’s loads of accommodation nearby for your guests, and plenty for them to do — young and old alike — if they’re new to Notts!
