countryside wedding venue in nottinghamshire

I first met Josh and Tasha at their friends Donna and Ben’s brilliant wedding in Nottingham. This group of friends know how to party so I knew this was going to be a great wedding and it didn’t dissapoint. You can see from the photographs how many laughs we had from the beginning of the day to the end! The Pumping House is a great, quirky venue so it’s brilliant for getting a range of different photographs – for some of the pics of Josh and Tasha we had great fun playing with the funky typewriters, binoculars or just hanging out with some vintage teacups. The ceremony room is stunning with lots of natural light and interesting features and the garden outside is great for chilling out in. I really hope someone else is getting married in this friendship group again soon so that I can get to hang out with them all over again. Josh and Tasha – thanks so much for booking me as your wedding photographer, I still smile so much thinking about your brilliant fun- packed day and looking over the photographs brings back all these memories.

review of THE pumping house wedding photography from the bride and groom

We hired Melissa to do our wedding photos after she had done an incredible job at our friends wedding party. We couldn’t be happier with the final results and got the previews + photos very quickly. Melissa is incredibly fun, and her photos are amazing. She captures the fun and emotion in the moment perfectly, that’s just what we wanted from our wedding photos.

We couldn’t recommend her enough, she’s a pleasure to have there and she will get you super-duper photos.

THINKING OF GETTING MARRIED AT THE PUMPING HOUSE IN OLLERTON? HAVE A READ ABOUT THE VENUE…

Located in Sherwood Forest, the Pumping House is one of Notts’ most impressive and iconic wedding venues. You can see how much Tasha, Josh and their guests enjoyed it — and on a sunny day like this one, I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else!

The Pumping House is a Victorian Grade II-listed building, full of original features that’ve all been lovingly restored — from the handsome red-brick walls and glass ceiling, to the Edwardian tiling and huge arched windows, to the massive combuster chimney. If you want that cool rural-industrial look for your wedding day, I’d definitely recommend it.

I feel like Sherwood Forest has a bit of magic to it, and the Pumping House brings all that magic into your big day, with its backdrop of tall trees and twittering birds. It’s big, but it’s cosy; it’s hidden away, but it’s full of lovely, natural light.

One of the best things about the Pumping House as a Notts wedding venue is its versatility. With capacity for 110 guests, it’s licenced for civil ceremonies of all sizes — and if you’re looking for a traditional church wedding, there are 12 of them located nearby. The Pumping House’s main ceremonial space is the Ollerton Room, with jaw-dropping views of the woods outside. There’s also the adjoining Boutique, with its antique dressing table and full-length mirrors. It’s a gorgeous space for the bridal party to gather before your big entrance.

After the ceremony, the Pumping House offers a range of options, from drinks on the lawn to the stylish and intimate Conservatory Bar. The headline space is the Engine Room, a breathtaking, two-tiered dining hall that’s the heart of the Pumping House. From the first nibble of toast at your wedding breakfast to your last steps on the dancefloor, it’s a great place to make wedding day memories.

If you’re planning on having lots of little ones in attendance, it’s also worth noting that the Pumping House has its own cinema and games room, complete with a 60-inch screen and football and air hockey tables to keep them busy. Plus, the team at the Pumping House organise fun scavenger hunts in Sherwood Forest!

Talking of the team, they’re really friendly and supportive. They’ll make your wedding exactly what it should be: something that’s unique to you and your own tastes. Bring your own suppliers, or pick from the Pumping House’s listings; from cakes to street-food trucks, bands to magicians, they’ve got everything you need covered. Their food is something special, too, with the team of chefs only using locally sourced ingredients, which is another nice touch. And most importantly, you’ll get exclusive access to the venue and grounds on the day.

A final word for the accommodation, which is fantastic. As well as the gorgeous boutique bridal suite, the Pumping House offers four luxury double rooms, and five apartment-style family suites. Like the venue itself, you’ll have that perfect mix of original fixtures and fittings, plus all the mod-cons you could want.

I loved the Pumping House every bit as much as Josh and Tasha did. It definitely gets my personal thumbs-up, and I can’t wait to shoot there again!
