cOUNTRYSIDE WEDDING IN Nottinghamsire
I already knew Cerian well when asked me to be her wedding photographer so I was really excited as I was sure it was going to be awesome! As you can see from the photographs Cerian is a joy to be around – her colourful, sunshine personality lights up everyone she meets and it no wonder that Laurence wanted her to be his forever pal! Cerian’s and Laurence unique taste was obvious from all the quirky and unusual choices they made from the beautiful wildflower flowers that Cerian personalised to match her Victoria Ferguson accessories to the fantastic floral bridesmaids dresses that I just fell in love with as soon as I seen them. Cerian’s beautiful dress was from Jess’s wonderful peak district boutique; it’s delicate floral details worked so well with the nature of the Nottinghamshire countryside at Swancar farm. Of course when the star of the show Isla turned up in her colour coordinated velvet harness and bow she just made the pictures and everyone just loved having her around. Thanks so much Cerian and Laurence for choosing me to be your wedding photographer – I smile so much from just thinking back to your lovely day x
Kind words from Cerian:
We fell in love with Melissa’s photos when we first saw them, and really wanted our wedding pictures to be filled with such happiness and love. The bright colours stood out for us as well, really adding to the cheer and contrasting the dark and/or muted tones of many wedding pictures we’ve seen in the past. We knew that we’d have a colourful and joyful day and thought that Melissa would be the perfect photographer for us: she absolutely was. The photos Melissa took at our wedding are stunning and they completely capture the joy of the day. Looking back through them is magical as we experience the joy and happiness all over again. Our families have said the same thing and we feel lucky to be able to share these memories with them.
Melissa has a fabulous personality and has been a pleasure to deal with in the lead up to the big day, and she was a star on the day itself. Friends and family commented how perfect she was and what a pleasure she was to have around. Several people were nervous about being photographed, including the mother of the bride: five minutes in and you’d never have known as Melissa put them at such ease.
We also met with Melissa a couple of months before the wedding to have some photos taken. This was a great experience and we laughed so much, but we also got used to having the camera on us which made us feel better prepared for the big day.
Overall, we couldn’t recommend Melissa highly enough and we loved sharing our wedding day with her!
Kind words from Laurence:
Mel was photographer at my wedding. I was dreading the staged photo sections but Mel keeps these to a minimum and doesn’t take too long but still manages to get plenty of photos done. She was brilliant with all our guests, blending in seamlessly and getting plenty of great memories as a result. Many of our guests, particularly the more photo averse, commented on how much they enjoyed having her as photographer. We have an endless supply of wonderful memories from our wedding to look over and that is all down to Mel. More than anything else, she understands that people enjoying themselves is the key to great wedding photos.
sWANCAR FARM WEDDING VENUE INFORMATION
Cerian and Laurence made a great call celebrating their big day at Swancar Farm — one of the prettiest Notts wedding venues, and the perfect place to say ‘I do’!
Located at Trowell, just 15 minutes from Nottingham city centre, it’s a beautiful, rustic farmhouse venue that’s also super-accessible for your guests. It’s a picturesque old-school countryside estate, but one that’s also stylish, elegant, and very modern.
Swancar Farm is licenced for civil ceremonies, and there are also two cute churches nearby. Take a look through the testimonials, and you’ll see from all the happy couples how professional and supportive the team at Swancar are; they pride themselves on going the extra mile, and they’ll make sure everything’s taken care of so that you can properly enjoy your day.
Just like all great Notts wedding venues, what makes Swancar Farm so special is how versatile it is. You can really make the space your own: ceremonies take place in the refurbished barn, where you can choose from the upstairs gallery (with seating for 35-100 guests), or the stunning glass-fronted atrium downstairs (for 35-120 guests).
It’s always hard to count on the British weather, even for weddings in the middle of summer, but Swancar Farm have got every reception scenario covered — come rain or shine! When the sun’s out, enjoy champagne, cocktails and canapés out on the courtyard, then grab the perfect photos out on the beautifully manicured lawns, or in the wild wheatfields that surround the farm. If it’s a little chillier, get cosy in the main hall by the beautiful open fire, under the bare beams and twinkling fairy lights. From parasols to patio heaters, the guys at Swancar Farm have thought of everything — meaning you and your guests will be comfortable all through the day. Dance the night away out on the patio with wood-fired pizzas and your favourite band, or take the party indoors to the breathtaking Oak Hall. And when you’re finally bushed, you and your guests can round off the celebrations with a nightcap in the Orangery — a small, low-key, candlelit space that’s ideal for looking back over your perfect day.
As a wedding venue, Swancar Farm really shines when it comes to accommodation. Get there a day early, and you and your bridal party can enjoy a girls’ night at the Old Stables — a charming eight-person cottage that’s all yours to enjoy. As well as a gorgeous bridal suite, there are also ten luxury boutique bedrooms on-site, which will be a real treat for your guests. If there are any sore heads the next day, you and your wedding party can also recuperate with a delicious breakfast in the Farmhouse Kitchen.
Swancar Farm is a beautiful Notts wedding venue, and it’s run by great, friendly people. It’s a lovely place to make lifelong wedding day memories, and I know you’ll enjoy it just as much as Cerian and Laurence did. A big thumbs-up from me — I can’t wait to go back there!
